Direct Supervisor: Tour Supervisor
Job Description: The Interpreter’s main responsibility is to welcome, orient, and interpret the Mammoth Site to visitors in a professional manner as well as provide site-specific information about tours, procedures and location of facilities.
Starting Wage: $12.00/hour
Number of Positions Available: 3
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Conduct guided tours presenting factual information to visitors
- Informed about the Mammoth Site and the area to answer specific questions.
- Directs visitors to bone bed, exhibit hall, and lab
- Directs visitors to cash register and complete routine sales transactions
- Maintain appearance of gift shop, visitor center, kid’s cave, and restroom areas, keeping stock neatly arranged and replenishing new stock on display as needed
- Assists visitors in selection of merchandise, making appropriate suggestions and locating and explaining interpretive items for them
- Follows oral and written instructions
- Any other reasonable duty to ensure a smooth and effective work environment
Required Skills:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where a majority of the shift will be standing with some bending, twisting, and light lifting.
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Ability to work weekends and evenings
- Attentiveness and patience
- Conducting routine sales transactions
- Ability to find the positive in any situation
Preferred Skills:
- Passion to learn and continue education involving paleontology, geology, and/or archaeology
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Interpretive techniques

Interpreter II
Direct Supervisor: Tour Supervisor
Job Description: The Interpreter II’s main responsibility is to supervise assigned staff members to ensure they are aware of daily duties and to report to the tour supervisor as needed.
Starting Wage: $13.50/hour
Number of Positions Available: 1
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide attentive customer service and manage any special requests and/or visitor complaints
- To support the overall objectives of the business maintaining standards and policies
- To be aware of and adhere to safety policies and procedures
- To ensure the opening and closing procedures are carried out in accordance with The Mammoth Site procedures.
- To assist in the provision of training as per company guidelines including induction of new hires.
- To ensure all points of sale are correct and effective
- To handle guest feedback effectively including guest comments and requests to the satisfaction of both the guest and The Mammoth Site.
- To develop and maintain a good working relationship with all visitors, staff, volunteers, etc.
- Any other reasonable duties to ensure a smooth and effective work environment.
Required Skills:
- Demonstrate people management skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Cash handling
- Computer literature
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team
- Interpreter techniques
- Passion for earth sciences

Bistro Supervisor
Direct Supervisor: Tour Supervisor
Job Description: The Bistro Supervisor is mainly responsible for effectively managing the bistro in customer service, stock control, and ordering, damage/breakage control, hygiene, organization, and training of staff within the department.
Starting Wage: $13.50/hour
Number of Positions Available: 1
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Establish and develop methods and standards for effective supervision of the bistro
- To ensure all members of bistro staff are aware of daily duties
- Provide attentive customer service and manage any special requests
- To handle customer feedback effectively including customer complaints and requests to the satisfaction of both the customer and the Mammoth Site
- To assist in the provision of training as per company guidelines including induction of new hires
- To maximize sales through motivating and training of all bistro staff members
- To ensure the opening and closing procedures of the bistro are carried out in accordance with the Mammoth Site procedures
- To be aware of and adhere to fire and health and safety policies and procedures
- Ensure that the ordering of product and checking in of product is carried out accurately and in a timely manner
- To develop and maintain a good working relationship with the local Environmental Health Officer
- Any other reasonable duties to ensure a smooth and effective running bistro
Required Skills:
- Ability to comply with all food hygiene regulations within the bistro environment in accordance with company procedures
- Conducting routine sales transactions
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment where a majority of the shift will be standing with some bending, twisting, and lifting
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Ability to work weekends (Saturday-Wednesday) and evenings
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
Preferred Skills:
- Food hygiene certificate or willingness to work toward one
- Experience supervising a team
- HND or equivalent in Hospitality Management
